Born in 1979, in Helsinki Finland. Finnish-Swiss artist doing painting, sculpture and photography. After completing in 2001 a BFA at the Parsons School of Art and Design, I worked and lived in Paris, Zurich and Helsinki, before moving in 2007 to Geneva, Switzerland.

The subject matter of my work has mainly been the human figure. I want to think of the body as an organic object that needs an outside medium of paint, ink, ceramic or stone in order to full fill its purpose. I love the tangibility of oil paint in contrast to the rigidity of stone and the contradiction of porcelain, which is fragile, yet strong. Passionate about the mystery of these materials that have a will of their own and give me as an artist various aesthetic possibilities. The goal is to enable the viewer to have an intimate and calm moment of reflection. Letting something realistic transform and perceive it as an organic form and enjoying the various textures, colours, details and shapes. The pieces will tell their own story, a moment of dreamlike vulnerability.  The works are given an opportunity to complete their singular purpose, if the viewer has an emotional experience by seeing something living in what is shaped with a lifeless material.

My main interest lies within Mankind and the way our society functions whilst becoming continuously more individualistic. In order to have the possibility to perceive individuality and achieve our full potential, we need others, this has brought me to use the human body as my main subject, trying to find ways to make it shift between hyper realistic and abstract, playing with light and shadow. Feeling vulnerable and admirable facing life and what adversities it offers.  The research through painting, sculpture and photography has permitted myself to deepen the emotional connection I have with nature. Bringing nature and our surroundings in my work brings me to question that does the answer to connectivity of humanity lie in respecting our environment, allowing nature to thrive and hence give us the opportunity to feel connectivity with each other.

The research with my work and the strong believe of the over consumption of natural resources by the society has pushed the thought process forward and since 2016 a collaboration with Mexican born photographic artist Ana D. Lombard has given us the extraordinary chance and opportunity to create the artistic duo Ana D & Noora K where we further the artistic research.
